Whether you’re passionate about exploringeco-friendly destinations or simply enjoy the sight ofwildlife in open waters, there is one thing we should all agree on — toprotect marine wildlife andsave the ocean! Let’s face it, as travelers, we often take marine life for granted. Which is why we should focus on educating others, and do everything we possibly can to conserve and improve the life expectancy of marine wildlife across the globe.
The good news is, you don’t have to be a full-blown marine environmentalist to contribute. Here are someways to protect marine life.
Take care of the beach

We all love the sight of apristine, white sandy beach like inBora Bora,Seychelles andthe Maldives. But, with the increased amount of tourist activities in these unspoiled destinations, it’s even more critical to protect the wildlife through the constant upkeep of these beaches.
Frankly, it can be as simple as picking up your rubbish before you leave or opting to leave rocks and coral behind.
Ocean expedition awareness

Do plenty of research oncruises prior to making a reservation. Are they focused oneco-friendly expeditions? Do they avoid using electronic sonar equipment to ensurewhale and dolphin watching tours offer hundred percent success rates?
We recently went on anawesome tour in Iceland courtesy of North Sailing in Husavik and were delighted to hear that one of their primary missions was adopting an active environmental policy based on the idea of sustainable development and supporting theprotection of endangered species.
Reduce effects of climate change

The one topic that’s constantly debated across the globe is the impact of climate change and reducing your carbon footprint when you travel would have a huge positive impact on everyone – both human and animals.
The next time you travel, opt exploring a city on foot rather than usingpublic transportation, which releases harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Not only is this a great way to experience “off the beaten path” attractions, it’s also a perfect way to help protect wildlife.

Avoid pesticides and harmful chemicals
It’s common knowledge that pesticides, fertilizers and chemicals are bad for your health, but take a moment to think about the impact these have on marine life as they contaminate the global water supply, too.
Instead, use natural alternatives when cleaning your house and you may be pleasantly surprised at just how effective they can be! The long-term positive impact will certainly lead to marine life thanking you.

Stay connected with the ocean
One way to ‘stay connected’ with the ocean is by encouraging your friends, family and followers to beeco-friendly. You can take this a step further by spending more time by the ocean and gaining a great appreciation of what we should be trying to protect and preserve.
Many of us associate spending time by the ocean as justrelaxing on the beach but you can do so much more than that! Take some time to take a stroll every morning and enjoy the sights and sounds of marine life enjoying their natural habitat!
