Best 4th Celebrations

Small Town America
Picnic blankets, mom’s fried chicken, lemonade and fun with family and friends are scenes often seen around July 4th.  The Americana around this national holiday is almost able to be breathed in through the air, and these are some of the best places to get your fix.

Colonial Williamsburg – VA
What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with some of the best reenactments, Fifes and Drums, tavern dining and fireworks to be had in the good ole Commonwealth? Get there the night before the 4th and be treated to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra at the Williamsburg Lodge.

Stowe – VT
“Enjoy a multi-dimensional day-long extravaganza of food, music, entertainers, fireworks and more,” is what the towns’ site says when you surf over, and they’re not wrong. Parades and festivals will keep you busy all day long, then head over to the Mayo Farm for more fun and fireworks as soon as it gets dusk.

LibertyFest in Edmond – OK
If CNN and USA Today both say that this is one of the places to be for the fourth, then they’re probably right. Locals say that this is one of their favorite times of the year, and it get’s others coming back. For one thing, it’s a week long celebration, which are always fun. The fireworks display is also the biggest in the entire Oklahoma City area. If you have a hankering for some foodstuffs, be sure to head over to Taste of Edmond, where for $10, or $15 day of, you can eat as much food as you want from the 40+ Edmond restaurants that are now providing food. Not a bad deal.

San Diego – CA
Mixing beach time and awesome fireworks is always a good idea. There are plenty of vantage points for the Big Bay Boom, which is four barges that set of fireworks around the bay. If SeaWorld is more your thing, there’s a great show along with music for your entertainment.

St. Louis – MO
With a tagline that says “Where America Comes to Celebrate” you’d expect it to be pretty awesome. With headlining acts like Trace Adkins and Counting Crows, there’ll be music to spare. Oh, yeah, the fireworks are pretty awesome too.
