3 Years Later: Still Love It, But the Backpack Mechanism Could Be Better

I’ve been using this bag for about 3 years now, and it has traveled with me on so many trips. Overall, I really love the bag. The convertible design is practical, the size is great for traveling, and it has been a reliable travel companion.

The only thing I find a bit weird is the mechanism for positioning and attaching the straps when the bag is worn as a backpack. The straps themselves are good and comfortable, but because of how they are connected to the bag, there is a noticeable gap between the bag and my back. It doesn’t sit as naturally and securely as I would expect, especially when the bag is packed.

For longer periods of wearing, this can feel a little awkward because the bag doesn’t stay as close to my back as a regular backpack would. I think the backpack straps would work much better if they had a more dedicated and secure attachment system that keeps the bag closer to the body.

After 3 years of using this bag for my travels, I still really love the concept and the overall quality. I just wish the backpack-conversion mechanism were designed a little differently.

The straps themselves are good — it’s the way they attach and sit when converted into a backpack that feels a bit weird. 😅

I would definitely love to see more convertible bags from Pacsafe with an improved backpack attachment mechanism. The concept is great; this small design change could make it much more comfortable and practical for long-term travel.

Weird Backpack Strap

I really love this bag and I think the convertible design is a great idea. However, I feel that the backpack strap system could use some improvement.

When the bag is converted into a backpack, the strap design creates a noticeable gap between the bag and my back. It doesn’t sit as naturally or securely as I expected, especially when the bag is filled with heavier items. The straps also feel a little too stretchy and don’t provide enough support when the bag is carrying more weight.

Another thing I noticed is that the backpack straps seem to rely on the same clasp/attachment point that holds the front zipper area. Because of this, the backpack mode doesn’t feel as secure and sturdy as a proper backpack. When wearing it for a longer period of time, the strap placement can feel awkward and the weight doesn’t seem to distribute as comfortably.

I really like the bag itself, its design, and the idea of being able to switch between different carrying styles. I just wish the backpack function had a more structured and secure strap system — ideally with dedicated, sturdy backpack straps that attach directly to reinforced points on the bag rather than relying on the front clasp/zipper mechanism.

I would definitely love to see more convertible bags like this in the future, but with stronger, more supportive, and better-secured backpack straps. The concept is great; I just think the backpack carrying system needs a little more attention to make it comfortable for longer use,…

Best Choice for a Travel Purse

Really happy with this backpack! It’s comfortable to wear, has a good amount of space, and doesn’t feel too bulky. I love the anti-theft features, especially when travelling and using public transport. The convertible design is also really handy. Overall, it’s a great travel bag and I’m glad I bought it.

Rain enters

This is the 4th Pacsafe bag I have bought and the first with which I am a bit disappointed. I bought it for a specific trip and for size it is ideal. Unfortunately I got caught in the rain and water leaked through the 2 lower zip sections - front and back, not the main zip although my iPad was at the back of the main section and had water on its cover. I am not damning it yet as I need to make sure it was not my fault and that I had zipped it properly. I will double check next time
