Tips For Carrying Money and Important Documents While Travelling

June 06, 2016 2 min read

The last thing you want to worry while on a trip is losing your things. Losing your money, passport and other important documents isn’t just an inconvenience, it could also land you in trouble with the local authorities if someone uses them to impersonate you. Here are our smart traveller tips to travelling securely with your items:
Keep it duplicated
Before you fly, make copies of your passport, identification and your itineraries. Take a copy with you (and keep it safe in with your luggage, separate from the originals) and give the other to a friend who’s staying home. Should you lose the originals, you can use the copies as a temporary measure while getting things sorted out.
Keep it separate
Divide your money and important documents into different pockets and compartments. This ensures that if you do get pickpocketed, you are less likely to lose everything. As an added bonus, if you segregate your cash according to your day’s budget, it’ll help you avoid overspending.
Keep it close
In addition to keeping your money and documents apart, we also recommend keeping them close to your body. There are a variety of body wallets and belts available now, so you don’t have to stick to only the money pouch.
For the ladies, the Coversafe™ S80 secret body pouch is discreet and comfortable, it clips  to your bra to stay hidden under your clothes. For the men, the Coversafe™ X75 anti-theft RFID blocking neck pouch is similarly discreet and comfortable. Both use lightweight plastic clasps, so you won’t need to worry about triggering alarms if you have to pass through a metal detector.
For extra security, consider carrying the Coversafe™ V150 RFID blocking holster. It comes with two zippered compartments (so you’ll have enough space for your passport and cash), is made of lightweight, breathable material and has an adjustable soft nylon neck strap for your comfort.
Keep it quiet
Just because you’re travelling doesn’t mean you should be flashy. Be discreet with your money and resist the urge to buy everything in sight. Use small change and notes whenever possible. Always keep your bag close to you and pay attention to your surroundings.
Keep it fun
Lastly, remember to have fun! These tips are meant to help protect your belongings, so you can travel without worries and enjoy your trip. So remember to relax and enjoy the ride while you travel!
